wedisapprove.org is a website devoted to guerilla tactics, personal solutions, and various other design elements rebelling against things Americans are/should be "ashamed of."
Logo Work
wedisapprove.org was started with a simple idea: take issues that everyone in their right mind should care about, and post solutions to those problems. Much like the truth.org campaign, we sought to appeal to at the very least the teenage market--something youthful but informative, fun but reserved. Working in Illustrator, we (a team of 6 classmates) settled with a symbol of a dog with its tail between its legs. Our reasoning was that the dog is a sympathetic and identifiable icon, and when we drew up the final dog, it identified these traits perfectly. I started building up a website using their already established identity.
Web Work
The best course of action for a youthful yet sophisticated, fully open website was clearly a blog. It's 2.0-like, it gets through to the youth, and it works well for multiple authors, especially less technical ones. I settled on WordPress, and after the insallation took to heavily customizing it and modding it out to suit the organization's needs. One specific need was for each section (and its respective posts) to use a color-coded scheme (green for environment, blue for health, etc). Selected with pantonen colors, the ultimate result personifies the youthful while tackling important issues, and I am glad to have been a part of it.
