Photography through urban exploration. All photographs taken in Denver, CO., by David Sprankle. Includes cross-processed holga film and digital.

Gates Rubber, 11:12 a.m.

Initial scouting. Parked car at Breakfast King and crossed the bridge. Toyota pickup truck at site, train undergoing inspection on tracks directly above bridge. All doors welded shut. Points of entry included a barbed wire fence 7ft. high, and a few windows (breaking required).

Gates Rubber, c. 4:30 p.m.

Returned to site with better preparation. Occasional train passed by the factory. Stuck to the ice as not to leave footprints, threw a towel over the barbed wire and scaled the fence using a side fence as leverage.

Gates Rubber, 4:37 p.m.

All doors on secured side welded shut. Climbed a post to reach a veranda above the loading docks with windows at waist-level. Using the towel, broke a window and climbed inside.

Left premises undetected.

Parked in an alley behind construction site. Cased for entrance: wide & padlocked link between chain fences. Slipped under.

Moved to second floor. Two laminated sheets offered $5,000 for trespassing, one in spanish.

Elevator shaft unblocked looks down four stories.

Moved from sixth floor back to first after finishing a roll. Campus Safety officer idled outside in the alley.

Campus Safety SUV leaves. Exited facility to be greeted by two girls. "Photography project," and not a word in return. Left premises.

Evans & Univ., 11:44 p.m.

Parked in alley behind Stick-E-Star. Put a roll of film in Holga camera while observing traffic of alley.

Evans & Univ., 11:46 p.m.

Climbed onto a wooden railing, mounted the chain link fence two lateral feet from railing, climbed to second story of construction site. A pile of pipes in the middle of the construction area, second floor.

Used a tall and secured ladder at the construction site to climb to the fourth (roof) floor.

Used the ladder attached to the crane to climb up halfway up, and got a case of vertigo. Descended. Left premises.

Nagel Hall, 9:13 p.m.

Jumped a fence near a tree on the east side, out of range of campus cameras at HRTM building & Nelson Hall. Descended into foundation pit.

Nagel Hall, 9:42 p.m.

Used a wooden ladder to crawl out of the main foundation pit. Stacked construction gear to use as leverage to mount the same fence I entered.

Photography with an element of risk and danger. Infiltrating various construction and demolition sites, I took two low-tech cameras to take pictures. With six sites total, and the same amount of rolls of considered photos, the best came from my trusty Holga (cross-processed film) and a 5mp digital camera. All photographs taken in various construction/demolition sites around Denver, CO.
